2016. Foundations of a medieval cruck-framed building after stripping topsoil, Touch Estate.
The Stirling Field & Archaeological Society (SFAS) traces its origins to the Stirling Field Club, founded in 1878.
Our purpose is to promote interest in the archaeology and natural history of the Stirling area.
We do this by organising relevant talks and visits, and by facilitating participation in excavations, surveys etc.
We meet in St Ninians Old Parish Halls for the talks, which run from October to March on the second Tuesday in each month, at 7.30pm.
On the same Tuesdays from April to September we meet at 6.30pm at Castleview car park before visiting local sites of interest.
On some Saturdays we meet at 9.30am to visit more distant places.
Our outings are planned in conjunction with our two excavations. Currently, each lasts one week plus both weekends.
